Theatron, for two percussion soloists & orchestra, filmed at the premiere performance in Dresden, Germany, in May 2015. The soloists Patrick Raab & Johan Bridger, who forms the pecussion duo Malleus Incus, are playing together with the Dresdner Philharmonie conducted by Michael Sanderling.
Thanks to Dresdner Philharmonie for letting us use the recorded material and a special thanks to Nicklas Raab for the filming.

“Making a real impact ‘Theatron’ engages from the first note to the last and I doubt that it will suffer the same ignominious fate. Although spectacular to watch performed live this is not one of those works full of empty theatrics, it contains authentic and substantial musical content together with serious sonic investigation. It contains a definite cinematic quality and I was especially impressed with the stormy quality of the concerto’s writing that recurrently swells in considerable orchestral weight before transforming into a dreamy, almost ethereal character. With technical brilliance and artistic flair Patrick Raab and Johan Bridger, who together form the Malleus Incus percussion duo, communicated playing of such intensity it almost felt telepathic.”
